Consumer Protection & End-of-Life Care

2004 "Listening Conference"

In response to the results from the 2004 "Listening Conference" Consumer Protection and End-of-Life Care, the Maine Center for End-of-Life Care is following up on recommendations published in the Outcomes Report

 Introduction

Opening Remarks

Will I Receive Competent Care?

Will My Wishes Be Honored?

Will My Pain Be Managed?

The purpose of this Listening Conference was straightforward — bring people together to discuss what seems to be working well in end-of-life care, identify existing gaps, and propose solutions.

Obviously, this is an ambitious effort and not easily achieved due to many factors. The value is in the process — increasing the dialogue about issues that impact our families, neighbors and community.

Working together is the only way this kind of social change will ever take place. Listed below are action items (strategies) that have occurred since the conference, followed by suggestions for the future.

Once again, our gratitude to all who participated. This is your document.
