Dr RG Winkelbauer, in memory of Marion Maxine Fahey Winkelbauer (1925-2009). A true Irish woman: Happy, sad, bright, dark, complex, yet simple, blessed with a gift of gab, a keen artistic eye and a creative soul. Marion died with grace and dignity on October 6 at Parkview Memorial Hospital. Born in Missouri, her life took her to Texas, where she met her husband, Rudolf G. Winkelbauer, and where their daughter Lori was born; then to Germany for three years, where daughter Chrissi was born, finally to Brunswick, Maine in 1961. Marion’s creative stamp is left on several associations with which she was involved, including Regional Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, Curtis Memorial Library, Village Improvement Association, and, her fondest Bowdoin College where she became a docent at the Walker Museum of Art, and later co-managed the Museum Shop with her dear friend, Marilyn Dwyer. After retiring from the museum, Marion took up painting, which gave her great joy and some success as her works were exhibited and sold in local galleries. She is survived by her husband, two daughters, and their families, including four beloved grandchildren.
